Our book reading club is a one-of-a-kind intellectual and social club for kids. Book reading introduces new vocabulary to children and one of the ways to imbibe book reading is through story telling. The gain of storytelling is that listening to stories enhances a child’s vocabulary and listening skills. Research has proved that infancy is the period when children absorb most of the words that they later use in their lives. Storytelling aids in spawning great inter personal skills for children starting from a young age. Through hearing stories, children are exposed to a wide range of words. This helps them build their own vocabulary and improve their understanding when they listen, which is vital as they start to read.
- It stimulates their imagination and expands their understanding of the world.
- It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written word. (Even after children learn to read by themselves, it’s still important for you to read aloud together).
- It is important to their success in school and work.
- Reading can be a fun and imaginative activity for children, which opens doors to all kinds of new worlds for them.
At Nanny&Keepers, we cannot emphasize this enough. We understand the need to bring back the reading culture to the younger generation. Consequently, in conjunction with Mattini Books we put together a book reading/story telling activity to hold every week for children between ages 6 months old to 9 years old. Our governesses are well trained story tellers and are role models with standards of excellence. Like our facebook page and follow us on Instagram for updates on venue, time and fees.
